Personal Defense, Tactics We All Can Use!

Since 1997, the Federal Bureau of Investigations has reported an increase in violent crime in categories of rape, sexual assault, and violent attacks. Statistics show that, 1,382,012 violent crimes were reported to law enforcement in 2008.

There were 454.5 violent crimes reported per 100,000 inhabitants. Aggravated assaults accounted for 60.4 percent. Robbery accounted for 32.0 percent, forcible rape accounted for 6.4 percent and murders accounted for 1.2 percent.

With the rise in violent crime, it has become apparent that the topic of self defense
is not a commonly practiced tactic of the general population.
There are a few simple tactics which be practiced by anyone concerned about their personal safety and that of their loved ones. These tactics are taught to recruit police officers in law enforcement academy settings and they are easy enough for every one of us to implement into our daily routine.

Arm Yourself with a Quality Non-Lethal Defense Product:
In today's society, many business owners have developed retail web sites marketing the industries leading brands of quality non-lethal personal defense products. These items include but are not limited to Tasers
, Stun Guns and Personal Defense Sprays. Non-lethal personal defense products do not require permits for possession and all are considered very affordable and effective. Many of these items come with a lifetime warranty and replacement guarantee.

Be Aware of Your Surroundings:
In corporate America, it has become a daily routine for many of us to work long hours and sometimes multiple jobs in order to meet financial obligations. Many of us have long commutes to and from work and spend an average of 4-6 hours on the cell phone planning daily activities. Let's face it, most of us pack our day with more activities that anyone in their right mind would attempt to complete. The result?, We become far to busy completing tasks that our personal health
and safety become less important.
Many career criminals make a living studying our daily routine's to determine at which point we are most vulnerable, and that's when they attack. We need to train ourselves to slow down and be aware of our surroundings.

Be aware of individuals who appear to not belong in the area. (ie. bulky clothing on a hot summer day). These are indicators of potential trouble that we should stay clear of when possible.
If you are forced to do your shopping at night, take extra time to find a parking space in the front of the parking lot. Make sure the area is illuminated well by street lamps.

Look around before exiting your car. Look for people hanging around the area who have taken an interest in you. If you see someone who does not fit the area, don't get out of the car and just drive away. Worst case scenario, your were wrong about them and didn't get your groceries but you are still safe.

Many people across the country have become victims because their everyday activities have overrun their lives. Training yourself to be aware of your surroundings is simple to do for all of us and quite possibly may prevent us becoming a victim. Criminals prey on vulnerability.
